Agri photovoltaic reference system in the fruit-growing area in Kressbronn on Lake Constance

Presentation on the harvest results 2022

Harvest results Kressbronn 2022

Kressbronn on Lake Constance - reference object Agri photovoltaics in the fruit growing area

First Agri-PV system in an existing apple orchard. Overbuilding of a 0.3-acre existing facility.
One of five research projects of the "Model Region Agri-Photovoltaics for Baden-Württemberg".
Extremely short construction phase from the beginning of February to the end of April 2022.

Outdoor PV frame substructure for fruit growing

2 x 2 x 1 horizontal module - assembly table, inclination approx. 10°.

Pipe components stamped or galvanized according to DIN EN 1461.

Construction in peripheral and interior areas according to wind tunnel tests by Ruscheweyh.

Distance from lower edge of module to floor approx. 3.50 (± 0.1m) according to overall statics. Unevenness between the stands or deviating distances due to slopes are to be leveled out or accepted.

According to the assignment plan for the modules, approx. 1,120 pieces with the module dimensions of approx. dimensions of 2,000 mm x 1,002 mm x 5 mm, framed and with a size of approx. 1,700 mm x 1,000 x 35 mm, including aluminum frames, have been installed .

Semi-transparent modules with attachment by module clamps; Post/stand distances according to statics according to EUROCODE.

Lateral cantilever overhang approx. +49 151 17158946 m (outer edge of module).

C-profile with connectors and fastening clamp.

Corrosivity category C3 (moderate exposure outdoors).

The spraying of aggressive and acidic pesticides should be avoided in order not to attack the zinc layer.

The structure is statically calculated according to the semi-probabilistic partial safety concept (snow load, wind, etc.) (Eurocode).

Ramming depths approx. 1.5 meters according to static calculation specifications

Thomas Franke and Martin Hibsch took over the sales support, planning and project planning, project support and monitoring through to commissioning with documentation

Solar panels-semi-transparent module

Certified, semi-transparent double glass module according to EN12600 for overhead installation, 260 W, 1997 mm x 1002 mm x 35 mm, incl. aluminum frame, country of origin Morocco-China. Approx. 40% light transparency, quantity approx. 565 modules, electricity yield approx. 150 kWp.

Sonnenstromfabrik solar module

170 W, 1700 mm x 1000 x 35 mm, incl. aluminum frame, (Germany), semi-transparent glass-glass module, approx. 51% light transparency, quantity 555 modules, electricity yield approx. 100 kWp .

Huawei SUN 2000 brand inverter, with high maximum efficiency of around 98%.

Complete professional installation of the photovoltaic system according to the assignment plan with modules and inverters.

The AC-side connection of the PV system was set up as a turnkey system in accordance with DIN VDE 4105 low voltage and DIN VDE 4110 medium voltage.

A climate station to be integrated into the system serves to determine research-relevant parameters and to create databases.

Their minimum requirements: light availability, wavelength-sensitive light sensor, especially in the PAR range (photosynthetically active radiation) and precipitation.

The project is scientifically supported by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg.

Advantages:

  • Simultaneous use of the area for photovoltaic power generation and agriculture and its further use (apple cultivation)

  • Protection of the crop from weather extremes (heavy rain, hail, frost, direct sunlight, wind, etc.), enables dry cultivation, protection against plant damage

  •  Shading of apple trees by semi-transparent glass/glass solar modules (between 40% and >50% transparency) provide sufficient light for photosynthesis, improvement of soil properties and soil life

  • Reduction of the use of sprays due to less wetness on the crop

  • Cooling of the PV modules by evaporation of water, increase of soil humidity
